Teenager Charged After Southend Police Chase

A teenager is due in court later charged with driving offences after a high-speed police chase in Southend.

Officers had tried to pull a vehicle over on Woodgrange Drive at around 10.55pm on Friday night, but the driver just drove off.
 
A chase then ensued down Burdett Avenue, Northumberland Avenue, Lifstan Way and onto Eastern Avenue and Royal Artillery Way with speeds of up to 65 miles an hour in some places.
 
Police finally stopped the car using a stinger on Southchurch Boulevard opposite Southend High School for Girls.
 
18 year-old Connor Annereau, from Hamstel Avenue in Southend, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.
 
A 21 year-old man from Southend who was also arrested at the time has been released without charge, while a 22 year-old man has been released on bail until Thursday, 30 April.
