Just two months ago, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's $39,000 alligator skin backpack sold out at Barneys. Now the design duo for The Row have gone one step further, releasing a $55,000 backpack adorned with prescription pills.

The bag is a collaboration between British artist Damien Hirst, whose paintings have sold for more than $3million, and the Olsen twins' label, The Row.

Created out of black patent leather from Nile crocodiles, the five-figure backpack is one of 12 being sold on behalf of Just One Eye, which include plain and polka-dotted versions also.

Just One Eye co-founder Paola Russo said in a statement: 'We are longtime admirers of both Damien and The Row’s work, and our main focus here is to nurture work between artists working in different mediums.

'We couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to debut this series of partnerships.

Signed by the artist himself, each backpack 'blurs the line between high art and high fashion' according to Just One Eye, and features eye-popping embellishments like Mr Hirst’s signature spots.

A portion of the proceeds will go to UNICEF, however the donation amount is 'at Damien's discretion,' a representative told Refinery 29.

It is definitely the most expensive handbag the twins have released since they established their brand in 2006, and launched their handbag line in 2011.

The pairs' python over-the-shoulder handbags retail for $5,100, and a plain leather bag will set you back between $2,000 and $3,000.

At the launch of their handbag collection last year, Ashley Olsen noted the success of their original $39,000 backpack.

She told WWD: 'It was the first thing that sold off the shelf.'

She added that the reason may actually be thanks to the unstable economic climate.

She explained: 'During our last economic crisis in the U.S., the only thing that went up was Hermès.'
